The Archaeological Park of Pompeii has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, recognized throughout the world as one of the largest and most evocative finds of the Ancient Era. The archaeological excavations have revealed the remains of the ancient city of Pompeii, buried under a blanket of ash and lapilli during the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 BC. One of the best testimonies of Roman life, as well as the best preserved city of that era, which also boasts an extraordinary number of recovered finds, from simple everyday furnishings to frescoes, mosaics and statues, portions of villas and much more. Both the excavations of Pompeii and the story of the eruption that involved the city have been at the center of numerous artistic works such as paintings, novels, exhibitions, films, fiction and documentaries, entrusting Pompeii even more to the collective memory. A route designed for Allianz takes us through the streets and villas of Pompeii, but also to recent discoveries such as the Thermopolium, a bakery where hot food and drinks were sold and which looked directly onto the street, a sort of fast food from over two thousand years ago. Speakers: Luana Toniolo (Archaeological Officer of the Archaeological Park of Pompeii) Michele Scolletta (Head of Allianz Network Italy - Allianz Global Investors)
