The name of the band comes from the recording studio created by Kat's guitarist, Jacek Regulski. Alkatraz was formed when Roman Kostrzewski's parent band fell apart. He initiated a new project, which was to play different music from what had been associated with him so far. He also prepared lyrics that contained less of a gloomy atmosphere and satanic and occult references, and more irony and a mocking look at the current Polish reality (although there were also accusations of obscurity and incomprehensibility). The music was experimental by design - hence the addition of a second bass guitar, frequent tempo changes of the songs. In 2001, the album Error was released, which was not successful, partly due to lack of promotion. During the 2002 tour, during which Ireneusz Loth played drums, a large part of the repertoire was taken up by Kat's songs, and it was on them that the fans focused. With the reactivation of Kat in 2002, due to the lack of will of its members to continue the activity, the band ended its activity.
