Elżbieta Zdankiewicz-Ścigała, professor at SWPS University - Psychologist, psychotraumatologist. She specializes in crisis intervention and psychotraumatology. She conducts research on the psychological consequences of trauma and on the impact of trauma on the development of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and other disorders related to the consequences of complex trauma. She is also interested in the physiological changes that occur in the brain as a result of trauma. She analyzes the role of alexithymia, or the so-called emotional blindness, and dissociation in maintaining and perpetuating post-traumatic disorders. Member of the Polish Psychological Association and the European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies. Author of numerous articles on the mechanisms of adaptation after trauma and books on the psychology of trauma. All meetings were held as part of the series of webinars "Personality disorders and styles of functioning in relationships" organized by the Scientific Club of Clinical Psychology at SWPS University in Wrocław.
