In Mountainous Nafpaktia, in the deserted village of Katafygio, we met one of the few remaining guardians of the village, Alekos Theodoropoulos. A man, who never left his place and dedicated himself to animal husbandry. In the interview he gave us, Alekos opens his heart and talks to us about the difficult times he encounters in the world of animal husbandry. It informs us about the increases in animal feed and the lack of infrastructure, which make life even more difficult for farmers. He specifically mentions the problem with wolves, which are a threat to herds and have forced many farmers to sell their beloved animals. But Alekos does not give up easily. He tells us how he raises his goats the traditional way. He uses the milk from these goats to make his own cheese because the merchant is far enough away to get it. Despite the difficulties he faces, Alekos remains loyal to his profession and his village. There, he maintains a small cafe which is the meeting center for the few inhabitants of the village. There, they drink their coffee, share their stories and learn the news of the area. Alekos, with his presence and hospitality, sustains social life in this isolated area. #village #agriculture #village #greece #greekvillagelife ======================================= Prohibited downloading and using excerpts or entire videos for any reason.
