In the third millennium BC, Sumeria was divided into a multitude of city-states fighting for political and economic hegemony. But in the middle course of the Tigris and Euphrates, a new power will emerge, with a Mesopotamian culture and a Semitic language: the Akkadians. Using their famous archers, equipped with a more ironclad militarism, the men of the north will be led by a mysterious figure: Sargon. He will be the founder of one of the first empires of Humanity. After the fall of this dynasty, Ur will once again be an important center of power in the south. The great ziggurat will be born, and some of the most impressive artistic manifestations of this period. A power, however, threatened by external enemies: the Guti and the Martu.
