August 2024. Summer is almost over, but the high water has not fallen yet... We are going on the longest expedition on two aero boats (Bereg 560) with HONDA L15 C 190 hp turbo engines. There are six of us, three in each boat, plus 400 liters of AI 95 gasoline and a lot of fishing gear, tents and provisions. We plan to travel at least 500 km one way by water, so we refuel in the northern village with AI 92 gasoline. We have traveled about 1000 km by car along the highway and logging roads, and here we are at the tributary of a large northern river. We start on the aero boats at 11.30 am and by evening we have traveled 320 km. Then in the morning we refuel and hit the road again, we travel about 200 km along the mountain river. The weather is not good, sometimes it's raining, sometimes it's sunny, the water in the river is at spring level... The next three days we're looking for the coveted Siberian grayling and taimen at high water. Fishing time passes very quickly, we go down the river and start catching pike with a spinning rod. The fishing is excellent, the pike is picky and we have to change wobblers and spoons often. The last night on the mountain river, pike fish soup, fried grayling, instant noodles... The next day, the engine control unit (ECU) fails in one of the boats due to overload from mud and water in the fuel system, there is no spare. We decide to leave the boat in the village and sail to the car all together in one boat. Six people, 410 liters of gasoline, fish, things and provisions. The airboat had a hard time getting on plane from a small sandbank and here we are, gliding at 52 km/h with a fuel consumption of 1 l/km. Having spent the night in a hunters' hut, we safely reached the cars in the morning. We covered 1190 km on one airboat and with an overload of more than a ton of weight. We took into account all the mistakes. Next year, in winter and summer, we will test the Bereg airboats in more severe conditions.
