Our tour today is in AGUAÍ / SP. We walked through the city center and went to see the INTERLAGOS Municipal Park. Aguaí is a city in the state of São Paulo. The residents call themselves Aguaianos. The municipality extends over 474.7 km² and had 36,305 inhabitants in the last census. The demographic density is 76.5 inhabitants per km² in the municipality’s territory. Neighboring the municipalities of São João da Boa Vista, Estiva Gerbi and Conchal, Aguaí is located 22 km south-west of São João da Boa Vista, the closest city in the surrounding area. Located at an altitude of 661 meters, Aguaí has the following geographic coordinates: Latitude: 22° 4' 9'' South, Longitude: 46° 58' 52'' West. Major João Joaquim Braga is considered the founder of Cascavel, our land that later became a Municipality under the name of Aguaí. Major Braga, born in Braga, Portugal, immediately took action to achieve the formation of the Patrimony of Senhor Bom Jesus de Cascavel, obtaining in 1889 the creation of the Post Office, the appointment of the Sub-Delegate of Police and the first land donations. With the beginning of Major Braga's political career, Cascavel had in him its greatest element of progress. Among the improvements, Major Braga also managed to found the Parish, install the Peace Registry, electricity, schools for education, etc. Major Braga here assumed the positions of Judge of Peace, District Intendant (appointed in 1902) and sub-mayor, administering Cascavel until the end of his life. Due to his efforts and achievements in favor of the development of the village, he was rightly given the title of its founder. The municipality of Aguaí is part of the Brazilian Tourism Map of the Ministry of Tourism and belongs to the Entre Rios, Serras e Cafés Tourist Region. Aguaí is a municipality where faith and religiosity deserve to be highlighted in its tourist attractiveness. Interlagos Park, the city's postcard, is a pleasant urban park ideal for moments of contemplation and leisure. The municipality also has fishing grounds and a calendar of events that attract tourists from the region, from across the State of São Paulo and Minas Gerais. The diverse business park also receives many business visitors . Aguaí is the name of a tree whose seed is already known among Brazilian dowsers for its emanated energy. They are used to rebalance the energy of people and environments. INTERLAGOS Municipal Park Main meeting point for Aguayan citizens, it has a vast recreation and leisure area, has two large lakes, a walking track, kiosks, sports courts, playground, multi-sport gym and skate park, a large green area for leisure and contemplation for citizens and tourists. Placed under a huge fig tree in the central square in front of his house, this stone was placed there by Major Braga himself. For decades she decorated the garden and remains there to this day.
