Some elements of the revolutionary mathematical thought of Alexandre Grothendieck. Alexandre Grothendieck left us on November 13, 2014. An exceptional personality with an atypical life, he was one of the greatest mathematicians of the 20th century. His work, of an extraordinary depth and breadth, literally changed the landscape of contemporary mathematics. Today, all of his work, but also his exceptional and singular vision of mathematical objects, constitute a legacy present in many fields of research. He will undoubtedly continue to inspire several generations of researchers. It is in Montpellier, the city that first knew him as a student, that he wished to return as a university professor after twenty years (mainly at IHES) of extraordinary mathematical fertility. It is therefore here that we will seek to understand together, through a selection of some of the key ideas of his work, the visionary and revolutionary nature of his thought.
