Bank robbers, drug dealers, murderers - the author Damaris Kofmehl knows many people on the fringes of society and has written down their life stories. Her own life has always been turbulent too. In Brazil she works for street children, she marries the former drug dealer Demetri head over heels and starts other projects with him. But she repeatedly experiences setbacks and disappointments, is robbed by friends and finds herself helplessly exposed to a smear campaign. All of this and the tragic death of her husband cause anger and bitterness to grow in Damaris, which almost poisons her life.
