What do Latvia and Africa have in common? The answer to this question can be found on the farm of Latvian entrepreneur Pēteris Gobzemis. In the early 1990s, he received his great-grandfather’s land in the Kuldīga region, which had been taken away by the Soviet authorities, under the denationalization law and created a unique business there. Pēteris breeds African ostriches and African goats. The farm, which began as an exotic, a fantasy of a cheerful Latvian entrepreneur, gradually became a full-fledged enterprise and a regional attraction. Tourists from all over the country come here to watch the ostriches dance and cuddle African goats.
