Working on holiday? Absolutely! At least that's what those who are on work and travel say: you experience more and pay less, usually just the journey. And if you host and bring international helpers to your farm, you get a lot of work done and get to know the world without even having to travel. You can also find this and other documentaries in the ARD Mediathek: https://www.ardmediathek.de/dokus Jens and Malin from Schleswig-Holstein travel to Switzerland to spend a summer looking after the mountain farmers' cows at an altitude of 2,000 metres. Living and working so far away from the action means doing everything yourself: treating animals, building a washing machine that works without electricity, baking bread. They only need mountain rescue and a helicopter to rescue cows from deep ravines. Heidi helps out on a sheep farm near Neumünster. Until recently she ran a laboratory, but now she wants to try out whether she can do something completely different. To be on the safe side, she initially handles the lambs with gloves. And in the end, she is right in the middle of it all when the huge herd is driven over ten kilometers from one pasture to the next. Gesa and Kai are converting a former farm in Dithmarschen into a holiday farm. Sometimes five work-and-travellers help at the same time. Being a guest and employer is new for the two of them: the travelers should work and still have a holiday feeling. They should understand each other, even if they speak five different languages. And then there is also a festival on the farm, where Kai and Gesa have to rely on their employees from all over the world. Three stories of travel that would never be so adventurous without work.
