The complexity of the design of PVC windows is the most important of them. This can be said to be a mechanism, and each mechanism requires proper care and maintenance, and if your window began to open with difficulty or there was a draft in the window, then it's time to pay attention to it. The mechanisms in PVC windows from different manufacturers have minor differences and the adjustment is basically the same. For adjustment you will need: 1. Hex key for 4; 2. Phillips or star screwdriver; 3. Pliers. Most often, when using PVC windows, sagging of the sash appears. When closing the window, a blow is heard and when opening it is necessary to apply considerable force, which can lead to breakage of the handle. To eliminate the sagging of the window sash, you need to adjust the lower hinge. To do this, remove the decorative cover from the lower hinge and turn the vertical screw with a hex key. When turning it clockwise, the sash rises, respectively, when turning it counterclockwise, the sash lowers. After each half turn, check how the window closes. We achieve free closing and opening of the window sash, without jamming and impacts. A similar malfunction (jamming of the sash) can also occur due to a skew of the window sash relative to the frame. Occurs when the sash is often and for a long time in the open position. To eliminate it, you need to check for play in the upper hinge, for which we open the window 90 degrees and, pressing - pulling the upper part of the sash towards ourselves and away from ourselves, check if there is free play. If there is, turn the horizontal screw in the upper part of the window and remove the free play. When you turn this screw clockwise, the opposite lower corner of the sash rises up, when you turn it counterclockwise, it goes down. This way, we set the sash to a horizontal position. The vertical position of the sash is adjusted with the horizontal screw of the lower hinge. When you turn this screw clockwise, the lower part of the sash moves to the right, counterclockwise - to the left. Do not forget to check how the window closes after each half turn. Carefully look at what prevents the sash from closing normally and turn the corresponding screw. We achieve free closing and opening of the window sash, without jamming and impacts. It is better to go from the "vent" position to a fully open window and back through fully closing the window - turn the handle down. How to restore the tightness of the rubber seal of the window sash? If you look at the vertical end side of the sash, you can see three eccentric or oval pins. These pins are responsible for pressing the sash. There are similar trunnions on the opposite end of the sash, as well as on the scissors (sash tilt mechanism). This lever locks the handle in the open position of the sash; if you press it, you can open the window in two positions at once and gain access to the trunnion on the scissors. Also, the screw on the lower hinge is responsible for pressing the sash from below (not available in all designs). The pressure can be adjusted by turning the trunnions. Usually, when installing windows, the trunnions are in the medium (normal) pressure position. Such trunnions as in this video are adjusted with pliers. The position of the trunnion parallel to the sash corresponds to the minimum pressure. The position of the trunnion perpendicular to the sash corresponds to the maximum pressure. Naturally, all the trunnions on the sash must be in the same position. Eccentric trunnions are rotated with a hexagon. If your window has become leaky after many years of service, you can set all the trunnions to the strong pressure position and restore the tightness. In order for the rubber seals to serve for a long time, they should be periodically treated with a special compound (silicone grease), which will maintain its elasticity and prevent drying out. Also, switching the window to summer mode will help extend the life of the seal - turn all the trunnions to the weak pressure position for the warm period of the year, when tightness is not particularly needed. But the rubber seal will rest and straighten out. If the handle has become loose, you need to move the decorative cover by 90 degrees and tighten the screws, if the handle needs to be replaced, then the screws must be unscrewed and the new handle inserted in the same position in which the old handle stood. To clean dirt and lubricate moving parts, you can use WD-40 grease and sewing machine oil. As you can see, there is nothing particularly difficult in adjusting PVC windows.
