Our currently most famous opera singer, on a global scale, is the bass-baritone Adam Plachetka. Even before his forties, he managed to perform on the most famous opera stages around the world, including Milan's La Scala and New York's Metropolitan Opera. However, he also performs very often at the National Theatre, where he played a number of important operatic roles. However, Plachetka himself says that he got into opera only during his studies at the conservatory, because he originally saw himself as a musical actor. And in his youth he even considered playing professional hockey. In the next On Air, he talked about whether his vocal cords are insured, why he prefers to sing opera and not musicals and how opera is sung in the O2 Arena. Watch the full interview.
