Natalija Pažická thinks so and shows how on Instagram. She became a model as a teenager, later studied fashion and branding at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute and today she is dedicated to spreading awareness about socially and environmentally responsible fashion. She makes videos on Instagram in which she explains how the fashion industry works, who makes the clothes we wear, and how fashion corporations treat vulnerable employees. She and a friend created a podcast called Fashion Session on this topic, and she also does workshops for people who want to further their education on this topic. In this episode of the Ľudskosť podcast, Barbora Mareková asks about the time when Natália was still a model, and Natália talks about how this experience influenced her view of the world. “The entire modeling industry is based on the ideal of beauty and various false values,” she says in the podcast. “Not to mention that as models, we are still retouched in photos anyway - so I rarely really looked like my photo. When I was 15-16 years old, I saw that people in photos were admiring something that I was not - and this did not have a very good effect on me. "I also had to deal with the fact that someone was always criticizing my appearance very early on." They also talk about luxury and why so many people are attracted to showing off expensive clothes, handbags, jewelry, and home furnishings on Instagram. Natalya explains why she bought herself a luxury handbag in the past - and why she sold it after a short time. "We buy luxury things because we can show ourselves with a logo that says about us that we are well-off, healthy individuals who have a good job - so we are probably also intelligent and educated. It's something that gives us status in that society - but it's a very superficial status," says Natalya.
