We were on the road again, across Germany, from Brüggen to Berlin, from west to east, from the Schwalm to the Spree, from the provinces to the metropolis. In the first part of our six-part video series, we report on: - Stage 1 from Brüggen to Dortmund and - Stage 2 from Dortmund to Lippstadt STAGE 1 begins in Brüggen. There is also a lot to report about our home town. We recommend our video about the 'Brüggener Burgrunde'. • The BRÜGGENER BURGRUNDE by bike We cycle through the southern Lower Rhine via Kempen and Krefeld. The Hochfeld railway bridge marks the start of the Ruhr RS1 cycle superhighway on the left bank of the Rhine in Duisburg-Rheinhausen. However, most of the route is still being planned or under construction. We decide on a hotel in the center of Dortmund. We have never covered 121 kilometers in one day before. On STAGE 2, we continue towards Hamm and Lippstadt. Before that, we cycle a little through Dortmund. In Kamen we promise the 'Grandmas for future' to do without plastic for the sake of our environment. We come across the Datteln-Hamm Canal and thus also the Römer-Lippe Route, whose signs we can use to find our way without any further navigational assistance. Shortly before Lippstadt, numerous white storks have set up their breeding grounds. Up to 44 breeding pairs were counted in the Hellinghäuser Mersch in 2021, 15 pairs more than in the previous year. We reach our hotel in Lippstadt, which is located directly on the river. In the next episodes we continue to East Westphalia-Lippe, Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Brandenburg until we reach our destination in Berlin in episode 6. ______________________________________ Our stages on Komoot: Stage 1: https://www.komoot.de/tour/571043021?...
