The life of a truck driver is characterized by stress, traffic jams and little luxury: no shower, no toilet, no kitchen. Jasmin Antener and Janina Martig are happy to do without. For them, traveling in their trucks means freedom and adventure. "I've always had a fascination with trucks and engines. From a young age, I was more interested in them than Barbie dolls," says Janina. Eight years ago, Janina Martig founded her own logistics company. The 40-year-old's company now employs nine people - five of them women. Janina Martig used to walk the catwalk in Milan as a model for Armani, among others. Janina Martig: "There were situations in the modeling scene where I felt absolutely uncomfortable. Alone with a photographer in an apartment somewhere, and I didn't know what he had in mind." She feels safer as a truck driver at a motorway service station. Almost four million people work as truck drivers in Europe. Many for dumping wages. Mona Vetsch meets people from Eastern and Western Europe, talks to them about their motivation, their everyday lives, their dreams.
