A serious accident on the BR-116 highway in Teófilo Otoni left at least 22 people dead and several injured. A bus carrying 45 passengers, coming from São Paulo and heading to Vitória da Conquista, in Bahia, lost control after a tire burst and collided with a semi-trailer. The impact was so violent that the vehicle caught fire, turning into a charred wreckage. Witnesses reported that the scene was like a war. The injured were taken to hospitals in the region. According to the police, the semi-trailer driver has not yet been located. The road remains closed with no forecast for when it will reopen.
