In this episode, we will make our Home Assistant accessible outside of our WiFi in two different ways. First, I will show you how to do it the easiest way, i.e. via Nabu Casa. Then I will show you the way with SSL certificate, 2-factor authentication and IP ban list. So actually a secure method. Have fun watching :-) #homeassistant #smarthome #remote Important: if you lose access to your Home Assistant during the video (power failure, etc.) you can access it again like this: 1. Read the local IP of the Home Assistant from the router 2. Enter the following in the browser: https://localIPofHomeAssistant:8123 3. Click away the notices in the browser 4. That's it :-) Here are the code snippets in the Config.Yaml file: http: use_x_forwarded_for: true trusted_proxies: 172.30.33.0/24 ip_ban_enabled: true login_attempts_threshold: 3 Episode 112 Chapter: 00:00 - Intro 00:55 - Why DuckDNS and not Cloudflare 03:15 - Way 1 - Home Assistant Cloud 06:46 - Way 2 - Port forwarding in the router 08:28 - Way 2 - DuckDNS Domain 09:34 - Way 2 - Setting up DuckDNS Addon in Home Assistant 11:30 - Way 2 - Nginx Proxy Manager 14:37 - Setting up internal URL and external URL 15:08 - Way 2 - Activating the IP ban 16:06 - Way 2 - Activating 2-factor authentication 16:44 - Way 2 - Demo & Test 17:27 - Outro / Conclusion You can easily put together your own Home Assistant yourself*: Raspberry Pi 5 (8 GB) - https://amzn.to/3IqqSVt Power supply - https://amzn.to/3PyyXM3 My case - https://amzn.to/49IR6yu My fan - https://amzn.to/4a75T65 Memory card - https://amzn.to/3r8lpua (not my recommendation but possible) OR SSD - https://amzn.to/3KlDGfd (my recommendation as it lasts longer than a memory card) SATA to USB cable - https://amzn.to/3DNF1c4 My tools*: JOKARI wire stripping pliers Super 4 plus - https://amzn.to/3ud2T65 JOKARI multi-purpose stripping knife No.15 - https://amzn.to/3u9utkl Wera Kraftform screwdriver set 12 pieces - https://amzn.to/3DHGn8h BENNING DUSPOL analog.
