20 years ago, he was the youngest criminal in Lithuania, to whom the court imposed the harshest punishment - life imprisonment. His conscience should be burdened by the murder of two young girls - back in 2003. In the summer, the whole of Lithuania was shocked by the news that a dead eighteen-year-old girl was found lying in a pool of blood in an apartment building in Šiauliai. "I'm not a murderer, but I can't prove it," 38-year-old Dovydas Kriaučiūnas, incarcerated in Pravieniškių prison, decided to tell Delfi journalist Dainis Sinkevičius in "Scandalous Confession". For the first time, he spoke publicly not only about how he got into the apartment where, according to him, the girls had already been killed, he also told why he did not report it to the police officers, and decided to look for valuables after covering the murdered with a sheet. He also told about how he confessed to police officers that he had committed a cold-blooded crime, and later denied his "sincere confession". "I am still unspeakably ashamed that in such circumstances, climbing over corpses, I committed theft, but I certainly did not kill them," said D. Kriaučiūnas. For many years, he was looking for ways to prove his truth, but he was unable to do so, so four years ago he decided to commit a terrible act in Šiauliai prison, took the guard who worked there hostage and managed to escape from the prison together with her. "I want to say that I do not regret this event, it was necessary to do it - there is only one thing in this situation that causes me a moral dilemma - that the girl fell into that situation, that I touched another person with my pain", - he said while crying in "Scandalous Confession" D. Kriaučiūnas. He testified that the law enforcement made a mistake, but he does not want to admit mistakes - as soon as it was announced that the killer of two girls was arrested, the investigators immediately received many awards.
