Who casts and hammers tin bells today? There is a multi-generational family living in the Podhale region in the village of Odrowąż Podhalański. In their bell foundry workshop, they cast brass bells, bells, and small bells… Horse bells, janissary bells, bells for captain's bridges, bells for gates… Some of their products are bells hammered from tin for sheep grazing in the pastures. Each bell is carefully checked for sound, so to be a good bell founder, apart from technical skills, you need to have a good ear. Because each bell should ring clearly and each one rings differently; a good specialist is able to distinguish their tones. The Kulawiak family, who sell their products in a traditional way, can be met at the weekly Thursday market in Nowy Targ and the annual Horse Fair in Skaryszew. The film was made in 2010, but the workshop is still going strong, thanks to the young generation and Paweł Kulawiak, who is developing the company and proving that tradition can be combined with modernity, while maintaining high quality products.
