In the episode of BOOS that went online on Thursday 28 November, it can be seen that prominent fans within the hard core of Feyenoord are guilty of violence, racism and homophobia. How does the club deal with it? They take the hooligans under their wing. The BOOS team, together with NRC, exposes this in an episode that appeared yesterday. Bram Endedijk, the NRC journalist with whom BOOS worked, tells us. By Bram Endedijk and Enzo van Steenbergen, in collaboration with Tim Hofman and the BOOS team Supporters' violence Feyenoord has had problems with its own hard core for years. Research by NRC and the BNNVARA program BOOS shows that the club keeps convicted fans very close to it and regularly involves them in events. Feyenoord tried to keep quiet about an assault on a referee in the De Kuip stadium. What's the news? Feyenoord tried to stop a report of assault against two members of the hard core. A 21-year-old referee who was assaulted during a supporters' tournament in De Kuip was asked by an employee of the Supporters' Affairs department to resolve the matter "outside the judicial system". He did not respond. Research by NRC and the BNNVARA program BOOS shows that Feyenoord regularly facilitates a radical part of its own hard core. For example, the club organizes parties with supporters' organizations that are led by fans who have been convicted of football-related violence. The police and the municipality of Rotterdam are regularly critical of Feyenoord's actions towards its own hard core, according to internal documents. There are questions about safety in the stadium, also because the police found in 2022 that a member of the hard core, who has a stadium ban, has a key to De Kuip. —————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— Description BOOS broadcast 'Violence, anti-Semitism and homophobia: how Feyenoord continues to support its hooligans BOOS S11E15' - November 28, 2024 Link: • Violence, anti-Semitism and homophobia: how Feyenoord continues to support its hooligans BOOS S11E15' - November 28, 2024 Link: • Violence, anti-Semitism and homophobia: how Feyenoord continues to support its hooligans BOOS S11E15' - November 28, 2024 This is evident from research by BOOS and NRC, based on previously undisclosed criminal files, apps, e-mails and conversations with those involved. The suspects, members of Feyenoord's hard core, will soon be tried for the assault. Hooligans, who are involved in anti-Semitic, homophobic statements and death threats, are facilitated by Feyenoord. The club organizes parties for supporters' associations that are partly led by convicted hooligans. A member of the hard core who gave the Nazi salute and was convicted of making death threats against the Roze Kameraden, was able to attend the contract extension of Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow and a private party of the club, despite an area ban at De Kuip. He is also said to have been in Spain with Feyenoord at the same time as the suspect of the assault on the referee, during preparations for the Champions League match against Girona FC. ——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— About Bar Laat: From August 26, viewers can end the day with 'Bar Laat', a talk show broadcast on NPO 1 from Monday to Thursday evening.
