On January 29, 2018, a lecture by an outstanding philosopher, Prof. Władysław Stróżewski, devoted to beauty and combined with a presentation of the publishing series "Library of Polish Culture in Italy" edited by Prof. Anna Czajka-Cunico, took place at the MCK. In 2017, as part of this series published by the Italian publishing house MIMESIS, a selection of works by the outstanding Polish philosopher devoted to aesthetics was published. The work of Prof. Władysław Stróżewski combines elements of the teachings of St. Thomas, Platonism, medieval thought with philosophical and historical inquiries close to the analytical approach and the achievements of Władysław Tatarkiewicz, the phenomenology of Roman Ingarden, and the aesthetic experiences made by the author in the field of art. In this particular work of Prof. Stróżewski's combination highlights the fruitfulness of the "dialogue of philosophy", the importance of grounding contemporary problematizations in the ancient and classical heritage, as well as the mutual complementation and support of philosophical inquiries and analyses of works of art. The Professor's inquiries do not avoid the challenges of modernity and face them by referring to the lasting and deeply rooted in tradition meaning of Beauty in its connections with Good, Truth, and thus the horizon of values and meaning. The series "Library of Polish Culture in Italy" edited by Anna Czajka is a project of publishing outstanding works of Polish humanities in Italy by the Milanese publishing house MIMESIS. Selected works, in which one can recognize both a universal intention and the specificity of a specific cultural context, allow for the reconstruction of the main lines of development of Polish humanities in its European connections and the unveiling of research possibilities contained in our heritage that have not been used on an international scale so far. So far, the series has published selections of texts by Jan Białostocki entitled "The Polish Rider and Other Essays" [Il cavaliere polcco e other stories of art and iconology, Lauro Magnani Preface, 2015] and Stanisław Brzozowski's "Culture and Life" [Cultura e vita, Maciej Urbanowski Preface, Gerardo Cunico Postface, 2016]. This last selection is the first edition of Brzozowski's writings in a foreign language. A book by Maria Ossowska entitled "Moral Norms" [Norme morali, a cura di Alberto Pirni] will also be published soon. The project is being carried out as part of a grant from the National Humanities Development Program.
