The history of the castle dates back to the 17th century. The half-Renaissance castle was built on the orders of one of the oldest Silesian families, more precisely by Joachim Von Tschetschau-Mettich. The castle in Dąbrowa was completed quite quickly for its time. Its construction began in 1615 and ended in 1617 – and for the next 125 years it was owned by the Tschetschau family. The castle took on its contemporary shape almost three centuries later. Over the centuries, it changed owners who administered the castle. Some councilors introduced and rebuilt the castle area, such as the Ziegler – Klippehausen family, who in 1805 founded a 22-hectare park, a pheasantry and breeding ponds. The castle took on its current shape in the years 1894-1897 – during the reign of the Hochber family, the princes of Pszczyna. They gave it a neo-Renaissance shape at a huge financial outlay. Currently, the castle has 3,572.86 m2. This area includes 30 rooms, 3 apartments, 5 chambers, a kitchen, a dining room and two ballrooms. The castle also has a beautiful inner courtyard and winding chimneys. This is an architectural rarity in Europe. After Adolf Hitler came to power, the last owners fled Dąbrowa from the NSDAP in 1933 and the castle again remained without owners. Before World War II, the Nazis adopted the property and opened a school for teachers, then a school for nurses, and during the war - a sanatorium for German officers who returned from the front. Of course, we know what happened next in World War II. The castle was liberated in 1945 by the troops of the First Ukrainian Front. The castle, despite the fact that it did not suffer any damage during the war, was unfortunately destroyed and plundered by the army. #mysteriousworldofruins #castle #trip #walk #monuments #history #ruins #urbex #opole #silesia #poland #blogexplorers #musicfordestruction #silesia #poland
