Wanting to complete the magnificent ridge that stretches from Mt. Mitsuto to Daigomaru, I walked the core part of the Sasao Ridge, which had been left unexplored until then. Generally, the area between Kazuma Pass and Asama Pass is called Sasao Ridge, but the bamboo grass that gives it its name only grows in small areas near Kazuma Pass, and it seemed to me that the bamboo grass did not fit the overall image of a long and magnificent ridge. The route over Asama Pass that I used to descend was quite rough along the valley and was becoming increasingly abandoned. I think it would be safer to descend to the Kamikawanori side.
