The ambience is casual, young, modern and chic, the dishes are sophisticated and unusual. With this trendy vision, the young couple Jordana (29) and Nico (31) opened their restaurant "Emile" in a trendy district of Essen 1½ years ago. But while the trained chef Nico and assistant chef Daniel (23) are busy in the kitchen preparing cauliflower dust and salmon in a filo coating, Jordana and waitress Jessica (26) are desperately cleaning the small dining room - because hungry Essen residents are hardly acknowledging their trend with a bite. For the young mother Jordana, the sparsely attended restaurant is torture, her son Luca is waiting for her at home, and the rent and staff wages are outstanding. Nico also finds it incomprehensible that his sophisticated and laborious creations are being spurned. But the committed chef is not willing to settle for a lower culinary level - he prefers to work as a hired chef on the side. The landlord has granted the ambitious couple a five-month grace period - then it's over! For the cooking professionals Mike Süsser, Frank Oehler and Andi Schweiger, one question remains: is Nico playing too high with his dishes? The "Emile" house of cards is shaking considerably, but Jordana and Nico are sticking to their culinary game.
