EU party leaders VVD and GroenLinks-PvdA Malik Azmani and Bas Eickhout agree on one thing: a strong democratic Europe is necessary and the upcoming elections are of great importance for this. They are divided about the path to get there. Eickhout accuses the VVD of being unclear: 'Do you choose a Europe that stands strong against non-democratic forces or do you go for parties that strive for a divided and therefore weakened Europe?' According to Azmani, it is precisely GroenLinks-PvdA that is seeking the wrong cooperation: 'by voting against together with the radical right at crucial moments in European politics, you are feeding populist parties'. Azmani does not see the VVD being expelled from the European group because of its cooperation with Wilders any time soon.
