At 2 a.m., some people head out to the dark sea at Ganggu Port in Yeongdeok, Gyeongbuk Province, to catch crabs in season. After about 1 hour and 40 minutes, the crew members are busy looking for the nets they cast during the previous fishing trip. It is not easy to find a buoy on the dark sea at dawn. After finding the buoy, the hauling work begins in earnest. After enduring the cold on the unpredictable winter sea and lifting the nets that were 300 meters deep, the work of removing the crabs caught in the nets continues. When removing the crabs from the nets, they must be carefully removed so that the legs do not fall off or get damaged. This is because if more than two legs fall off, the commercial value decreases. Not all crabs caught in the nets can go to land. In order to protect the population, crabs with a body length of less than 9 cm or female crabs must be released again. After the hauling work is over, the netting work begins immediately, and since a net tangled with a person’s foot can lead to a fatal accident, the work of netting is always done with tension.
