She began her literary career in 1994 by publishing the short story “Port People” in the winter issue of the quarterly magazine “Mundan,” and the following year, her rural novel “Their March” was selected for the Farmers’ Newspaper. After publishing her first collection of short stories, “Why Did the Seal Go Up to the Drilling Ship?” in 1995, she published short story collections such as “When the Light is Strong, the Shadow Is Deep,” “There, a Person is Passing By,” and “Old Sparks.” Her prose collections include “Is It Hard for You Today?” and “Heading to the Bare Ground.” She won the 16th Busan Novel Literature Award in 2011 for “The Woman Raising Cows,” and served as the president of the Busan Novelists’ Association for three years from 2018.
