A Statue for that Man During World War II, Dr. PCM van de Velde, medical director of the Bethesda Hospital in Hoogeveen, and his medical staff set up a resistance group that succeeded in saving the lives of many Jews, people in hiding, forced laborers, resistance fighters, and downed pilots, in collaboration with the resistance outside the hospital. In this way, they resisted the cruelty of the Germans and the abhorrent oppression of the occupying forces. On our YouTube channel you can watch the Dutch version of the documentary, but it is also available in an English, French, and Hebrew version in our archive.
