Let's start BMW fans, this is the one you've been waiting for… BMW M5 GENERATIONS DRAG RACE!! We have every generation of the BMW M5, from the original E28 to the F90, and we'll soon find out how much the BMW M5 has come through since it first rolled off the production line. So let's see how they all compare. Starting with the E28, it is powered by a 3.5-litre, naturally aspirated in-line six-cylinder engine with 286 hp and 340 Nm of torque. This power is transferred to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. Opposing this is the E34, which houses a 3.8-litre naturally aspirated inline-six engine that can put down 340bhp and 400Nm of torque. And just like the E28, power is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. Then we have the E39, which houses a 5-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine under the hood! As a result, it has a significant increase in power compared to the E34, putting down 400bhp and 500Nm. However, it is still only available with a 6-speed manual gearbox and of course, power is only sent to the rear wheels. On top of that, we have the magnificent E60, which is equipped with an incredible 5-litre naturally aspirated V10 engine! This monster can produce 507bhp and 520Nm of torque, and all of that power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed robotised manual gearbox. For the latter two cars, we move to dual-clutch automatic transmissions. Starting with the F10, it is powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that sends all its power to the rear wheels. However, the latest generation, the F90, is not only more powerful (625bhp and 750Nm), but also comes with four-wheel drive! So will the F90 clear out the opposition? Or do we have an upset on our hands? There is only one way to find out… RACE IT!
