A POSITIVE LIFE! Ecclesiastes 11. (Revised Version) 1 Cast your bread on the waters, for after many days you will find it again. 2 Divide your portion among seven or eight, for you do not know what disaster may come upon the earth. 3 When the clouds are full of water, they pour rain upon the earth; and whether a tree falls to the south or to the north, in the direction in which it falls, there it lies. 4 Whoever sits waiting for the wind will not sow, and whoever stands watching the clouds will not reap. 5 You do not know the path of the wind, or how the embryo forms in the womb; so you do not know the work of God, the Maker of all things. 6 Sow your seed in the morning, and in the evening do not withhold your hand; for you do not know whether your sowing in the morning will succeed, or whether your sowing in the evening will yield equally well. 7 The light is sweet, and the wind blows gently. it is a delight to the eyes to see the sun. 8 If a man live long, let him rejoice in them all; but remember also that the days of darkness will be prolonged, and that all that comes to pass is vanity. 9 Rejoice, O young man, while you are young, and enjoy the days of your youth. Walk in the ways of your heart and in the sight of your eyes, but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment. 10 Therefore remove vexation from your heart, and put away evil from your body; for youth and the spring of life are vanity.
