The Turks who were settled in the Balkans from Konya Karaman during the Ottoman period lived together with the Slavic races in the Balkan lands for over 500 years. Although the Pomaks, one of the Slavic races who chose Islam in the Balkans, were divided into classes among themselves, they returned to Turkish lands together. The Pomak people, who lived in the lands of Greece, Bulgaria and Macedonia for centuries, were settled in the evacuated Greek villages in Thrace with the exchange agreement. When they were settled in Tekirdağ, some of the Pomaks who wanted to engage in agriculture like the lives they left behind were taken to the village of Küplü, which is close to the Greek border, upon their request. It is known that the population of the Pomaks, who have been living in the village of Küplü in Edirne and in many provinces of Turkey since the early 1900s, is close to 1 million. Belü Hasan (White Hasan), one of the elderly residents of the village of Küplü, continues to live with his Pomak relatives on the street named after him.
