At the Thudt farm in the Harz foothills, the cattle have to be moved to a different pasture. The animals move five to six times during the grazing season when the areas have been grazed and they need fresh grass. This is not always an easy task for the mother cow herd. Particular attention is paid to the breeding bull Ecki. Children from a daycare center are visiting Karsten Dudziak on the farm that day. Together they feed the free-range pigs and dig up potatoes. Karsten Dudziak tells the children about his work, explains the different jobs on a farm and puts a chicken in the arms of the brave children. In Schleswig-Holstein, at the Kriseby stud farm, Wulf-Heiner Kummetz and trainee Barbara are doing a herd check on the pregnant brood mares. Barbara is supposed to assess the horses and thus train her eye and her specialist knowledge. Later, they will go to the state show jumping championships in Bad Segeberg. A brood mare from Kriseby will be competing there. Barbara is really excited as she rides through the course. At the poultry farm in Kölau, Christine Bremer takes a group of young turkeys out to a forest meadow. There the animals can move around freely and look for insects in the grass. But first two shelters have to be repaired. Christine wants her employees to extend the roof overhangs to offer the animals more protection from the rain. _______________________________________________ Our guidelines for comments: https://www.ndr.de/service/technische... #ndr #ndraufmland #hofgeschichten
