He collected with his discoveries the manuscripts of the books of the predecessors and contemporaries that he did not include in his book except after he had confirmed their authenticity from the travelers and travelers. Among what he had established in them was the argument and statement, so he divided the first land in his book “Nuzhat al-Mushtaq” into seven regions, each region he wrote about in ten parts. Among what he wrote and said were matters stranger than fiction. Then he continued in the long speech between the fourth and fifth regions until he reached in the statement the land of Upper Gog and Gog in the fifth region, which is a large and prosperous land. They are a large number and a plentiful gathering and nations that cannot be counted in number. Their country is a fertile land and waters. A stream, plains, and a large amount of soil and livestock. They are from the descendants of Sam, son of Noah. They are the corrupters on earth. Their creation is very small. It is said that the height of a man from them, I mean from the family of Gog, is like the height of one of us, and their women are like that. It is not known what their religion is or what their beliefs are. As for the people of Magog, their land is below this land and they are all very short, at the end of shortness, so that the height of a man among them does not exceed three spans, and their women are like that, and their faces are extremely round, and they have a great deal of down on them, and their ears are large, round and drooping, so that if a man’s ear is hung, it reaches the edge of his shoulder, and their speech is like a whistle, and evil is apparent among them, and they are light-footed, and among them are obscene fornication, and their land is a land of snow and a general winter, and cold is a constant occurrence among them. It is said that Gog and Magog are brothers, their mother is the same and their father is the same, and the most common color is white and red, and their marriages are many and their offspring are widespread, and before Dhul-Qarnayn reached them and built the dam on them at the gate of their mountain from which they entered and exited, they raided those who were near them and gathered against those who intended to attack them, and they had well-known raids and attacks, so that they evacuated many of the countries and cities adjacent to them from the west of the mountain and where the dam of Dhul-Qarnayn was built on them, and most of those countries are empty. Its thrones have no inhabitants or residents who can rely on it due to its abundance of life, the depth of its waters, and the wildness of its land. In the sixth region, there is a piece of Khafshakh land and the land of the Turks. It is a country bordering the dam, cold, with a lot of snow and rain. We note here that Al-Idrisi confirmed in more than one place that the land of Gog and Magog is located in a very cold place, which proves what we revealed to you previously, that the dam is in Antarctica behind the wall surrounding the earth, where these people have been searching until now.
