At the foot of Sanseongsan Mountain in Damyang, a bamboo forest thicket, the monk of 'Yeondongsa' has 'Ilbaek' as his only companion. Ilbaek is very curious and likes to hunt, but he has never caught a single bug, let alone killed anything, so he is perfect for living in a temple. When he goes to the open-air temple to pray every morning, he follows the monk without fail and runs around Sanseongsan Mountain as if it were his own yard. Following the previous dogs who have guarded Yeondongsa, Ilbaek is a 'dog guardian' acknowledged by everyone. When he climbs Geumseongsanseong Fortress with the monk, which overlooks Damyang, he enjoys the spectacular snow-covered scenery spreading out beneath his feet.
