In this episode we dive into the rich history of Hotel Lion D'or, the oldest existing city hotel in Haarlem. Started in 1839 as a taproom, it grew into a full-fledged hotel in the 1920s. Including a period in the 1950s when it was owned by the then hugely popular artist Lou Bandy. In 2016 Marcel and Lilly Berendsen took over the hotel and in 2021 they carried out a major renovation. New prefabricated rooms were placed on the hotel with a large crane, increasing the number of rooms from 34 to 56. In the voice-over Slangen Architecten is mentioned. This is incorrect and should be construction company John van Geldorp from the Waarderpolder. ???? In the program 'Haarlemse Iconen' presenter Rudy Nicola visits six iconic companies from the city. Each episode focuses on one company and goes into more detail about their founding, development and special highlights. As a viewer, you get the chance to meet the people behind these companies and are taken on a journey through time.
