This is the headquarters of the São João farm, dating back to 1800. It was built entirely of stone and is one of the oldest in the region. It belonged to the Ramos family during the Portuguese crown, and then went to the family of the famous Tito Bianchini. Tito Bianchini was a successful entrepreneur at the time, an Italian carpenter who arrived in the Coxilha region building sheds and houses. He was successful in his profession. He was a man of vision. He charged part of the service in land, which was very cheap there at the time, or in cattle. He agreed to remove the cattle 1 or 2 years after the negotiation, thus maximizing his profit and quickly expanding his business. He was also a pioneer in the sale of charque (salted meat). He even had a large company in the industry and even exported charque to various regions. A man of humble origins who became rich, he bought several farms in the region and also built his own, which is Fazenda Tijolinho. He built it in the style of the houses in his home country, including a beautiful wine cellar in the basement. I will post about it here soon. To this day, many farms in Coxilha Rica belong to his heirs, including this one, which today belongs to Márcia Ávila, granddaughter of Tito Bianchini. It is located in Lages, a municipality in the state of Santa Catarina, in the southern region of Brazil. It is the headquarters of the Serrana Mesoregion and the Metropolitan Region of Lages, with the largest territorial extension among the municipalities of Santa Catarina. This farm is part of the Lages cattle herding cycle and is one of the largest in the region. It is located in Coxilha Rica. At the time, animals were taken from Viamão to Sorocaba and to prevent Indians and animals from getting there, they built corridors made of mud, the so-called Caminho das Tropas, and between these paths there are several historic farms, which served as stops for the drovers.
