Mirosław Romański talks about the longest active railway tunnel in Poland, which is located under the Mały Wołowiec mountain near Wałbrzych on the most beautiful railway line no. 286 Kłodzko Główne - Wałbrzych Główny. This tunnel is over 1.6 km long. Next to it runs another, slightly shorter railway tunnel, which has not been used since the late 1990s. The younger tunnel in use was put into service 30 years later (in 1911) than the one that was decommissioned (1880).
