Circular hike to Monte Croce, Monte Pilastro and the beautiful and fascinating Porta di Prada or Bocchetta di Prada. Welcome back to the canal!! Today I will take you to Esino Lario, on Lake Como and more precisely I will do a circular tour, starting from the Passo del Cainallo parking lot and touching the top of Monte Croce, Monte Pilastro and finally Porta di Prada. Starting from the Cainallo parking lot, after having bought the €6 ticket to get to the last parking lot, you must follow the signs for trail 23, be careful because at the first crossroads, the sign is placed a little higher than the path, so be careful because if you look at the ground you will probably miss it. The path continues in the woods and is well marked, once you reach a last crossroads, you can choose whether to follow directly to Monte Croce, or opt for a detour to the Baitello dell'Amicizia, a refuge where you can stop and enjoy the view. From the Baitello you will then follow the sign and a few meters uphill, you will reach the Croce. The view from here is fantastic, as it ranges from Lake Como with Bellagio, to mountains such as Monte Bregagno and Grona. After enjoying the view, you can choose to return to the starting point following the same path, or reach the top of Monte Pilastro which as the crow flies, will be more or less 100-200m from the cross, and then descend along path 17D which will lead to the spectacular Porta di Prada or Bocchetta di Prada, an arch in the limestone rock, carved out by atmospheric agents over the years, BEAUTIFUL!!! From here, you can either continue uphill to the top of Grigna, or simply reach the Bietti Buzzi refuge for refreshments. To return to the parking lot you will have to go back a little and at the crossroads where numerous paths are indicated, follow path 24 which in about thirty minutes maximum, will take you back to the car. I really enjoyed the hike and I recommend it to anyone, with a minimum of training, as it is truly accessible to most, there were also many families, and the views, as on many other occasions, are truly fantastic.
