The sun goddess Amaterasu lives there. The emperors of Japan descend from her and she was one of the most powerful gods of all. It is the highest ranking shrine in Shinto and every year countless Japanese people come there to thank Amaterasu and pray. After we had looked at this important shrine, we visited a traditional Japanese district. The district is called Okageyokocho (おかげ横丁) and is known for its buildings in the old traditional Japanese style, as well as for the famous Matsusaka beef, which is considered to be one of the best types of meat in all of Japan. These old Japanese houses always have a very special effect on me. I love the old architectural style and I really like the whole atmosphere. Of course, we didn't miss the opportunity and went to a restaurant to eat some Matsusaka beef, which was really delicious. However, we were a bit surprised by the number of people. It was relatively full, which meant that we had to wait a bit to get a delicious kakigori. At the end we visited the sarutahiko Shrine (猿田彦神社), which is also one of the most important shrines in the region and whose god also has a relatively high rank. All in all, it was a very nice day with Mayu's family. We had a lot of fun and went to great places. You can't really imagine a better day in Japan. Ise is also highly recommended for a trip to Japan! #Travel #Japanese #Japan
