I was invited by a friend and fan of the channel to interview his relatives who live in the countryside in the city of Gonçalves, Minas Gerais. Thirty years ago, I visited the region, which still had no asphalt roads or paved streets. The city was typically rural. Today, it has become a tourist hub that attracts alternative and wealthy people from the big cities looking for a better quality of life, whether for a weekend visit or to live there. The influx of these people from outside has created many job opportunities for the natives who left their farms to work for the new arrivals. Some, like Rodolfo and his family, work for tourists but still lead a life strongly linked to tradition, milking, making cheese and raising pigs and chickens. Gonçalves is a Brazilian city in the state of Minas Gerais, located in the immediate region of Itajubá. Gonçalves is currently one of the fastest-growing tourist hubs in the Serra da Mantiqueira, and is part of the Serras Verdes do Sul de Minas tourist circuit. Soundtrack by Lucas Barros
