We invite you to participate in a unique project, the aim of which is to meet, inspire each other and exchange experiences between artists, theatre teachers, dancers, people working with groups and amateurs. Our desire is to integrate the community through art and show new qualities in socially engaged theatre, thanks to joint participation in workshops led by artists creating with disabilities. As part of the “Art without Borders” project, we will organize four series of workshops, performances and a joint discussion panel, which will be crowned by the publication of a publicly available e-book. Each series will focus on work with a group operating within a specific disability, its perception in society, as well as on developed methods of theatre work. Participants will have a unique opportunity to participate in workshops with theatre groups that have created their own, unique techniques and exercises. In this way, people with disabilities will have the chance to act as experts and self-advocates, leading a discussion on accessibility in culture and art. “Art Without Borders” is a project that not only educates and promotes the use of theatre tools in therapy, but also recognizes and emphasizes the potential and uniqueness of art created by people with disabilities. Our strategic goal is to improve the qualifications and competences of people leading activity groups and artists, which directly contributes to facilitating access to culture and social integration. By implementing this project, we strive to achieve real, systemic and long-term effects in eliminating barriers to access to culture, both in the socio-mental and competence dimension. We create conditions conducive to the inclusion and cooperation of representatives of various social groups in cultural life, we build the competences of culture recipients and support the accessibility of art for people with special needs. The event is co-financed by the EU #NextGeneration and the City of Łódź funds.
