Grigory Skovoroda's paradox is a paradox of the 18th century. From the point of view of Ukrainian culture, this is a century of tragedies, when Ukrainian institutions are destroyed in the confrontation with the Russian Empire, hopes for Ukrainian statehood and culture disappear. But it is at this time that the Ukrainian educational environment associated with the Ukrainian elite - the nobility - becomes fruitful. Ukraine demonstrated that the destruction of state institutions does not mean the destruction of educational environments. Educational environments and culture can be fruitful and bear fruit even in the situation of the destruction of institutions. This is a very important lesson for us today, because the war restarted all the processes of redefining – statehood, civil society, culture, literature, education. And, of course, Skovoroda is now a symbol of hope for Ukraine.
