From the archive: Northeast of Magdeburg are the two most striking and technically complex engineering structures on the A 2 between Helmstedt and Berlin, namely the bridge over the Elbe descent canal (92 m) and the Elbe bridge Hohenwarthe (1,170 m). As part of the expansion of the A 2 from four to six lanes, which was completed at the end of 1999, the two bridges from the 1930s had to be replaced by new structures. The film shows the construction work in retrospect.
