The "Mongolian Internment" took place after the end of World War II 77 years ago. This documentary is about a man who lost both legs and was interviewed by a Mongolian journalist for about 10 years. Immediately after the end of the war, about 600,000 people were deported by the Soviet Union and forced to live in harsh internment conditions, which is known as the "Siberian Internment." However, it is not widely known that about 12,000 of them were detained in Mongolia, and more than 1,600 died. We accompanied one former internee on his final journey to commemorate the souls of his former war comrades who rest in Mongolia as part of his "end of life preparations." Along the way, we witnessed the extreme conditions the internees experienced, the strength with which they survived, and the bond between Japan and Mongolia that they forged. 00:00 Intro00:43 Introduction to Tomohiro Masao02:02 Tomohiro removes his prosthetic leg03:04 About Mongolian internment03:26 Mongolian journalist reporting on the incident05:36 Mongolian Association visits Yasukuni Shrine07:22 Stories from Mongolian internment survivors07:53 Siberian internment and Mongolian internment08:42 Journalist reporting on Mongolian internment10:40 Memorial trip to Mongolia12:06 Final memorial trip13:09 Sukhbaatar Square13:47 Why were the internees involved in the construction?14:09 Public Records Administration15:49 Footage documenting the internment17:11 Mongolian historian on the background of the internment19:17 Mongolian newspaper article21:34 National Opera and Ballet Theatre22:04 Pictures of work22:38 43:43 ぜひご活用ください。 English: Stories of those who were detained24:44 A memorial journey25:35 In Tomohiro's footsteps26:56 Tomohiro visits the hospital27:48 Tomohiro enters the operating room29:16 About Tomohiro's operation33:18 Mongolian TV station35:44 Meeting a man who knew him at the time39:33 Testimony by Mr. Sirendev43:26 Tomohiro returns to work at the Japanese National Railways45:22 The final memorial journey50:03 Reunion with orphanage graduates55:44 Japan and Mongolia today56:43 A memorial journey ■CTV NEWS official website https://www.ctv.co.jp/news/ ■Twitter / chukyotv_news ■TikTok / ctv_news ■LINE NEWS https://line.me/R/ti/p/%40oa-ctvnews ■For any questions, concerns or investigation requests, please contact "The Center of You Reporting Team"! https://www.ctv.co.jp/interview/ ■Submit photos, videos, etc. to the "Catch!
