Today we invite you to discover the first episode of a special 6-episode series dedicated to the event of August 23, 1944, a defining moment for Romania during World War II, when our country turned its weapons against Nazi Germany. In history, this moment is known under various names, such as the coup d'état or the Act of August 23, 1944, and represents one of the most controversial and discussed episodes in the modern history of Romania. Today, on August 23, 2024, we celebrate 80 years since this crucial moment and launch the first 2 episodes of the series. Together with historian Mihai Burcea, we begin a unique tour through interwar and postwar Bucharest, exploring places full of history and stories about political leaders who decisively influenced the destiny of Romania.
