The Minorite Church, a jewel of Vienna's inner city, is celebrating its 800th anniversary. In 1224, at the request of Leopold VI, Duke of the Babenbergs, St. Francis sent some of his brothers to Vienna to carry out missionary work in the city. God had previously called the great saint to rebuild His Church, not only in Assisi, but far beyond. Francis had placed his life entirely in the service of the Most High and thus became the great apostle of his time. This must also be a message for us: No matter how strong the storms sweep over us, no matter how sick the Catholic Church is - it is also up to us, every single believer, to help rebuild it. In this video we see excerpts from the liturgy at the start of the festival week on September 8, 2024, the Feast of the Nativity of Mary, which we celebrated with a high mass in the Viennese rite and a large Marian procession through Vienna's inner city. Church music: Anton Bruckner, Missa in D minor (Kronstorfer Mass), choral proprium of Maria Geburt and Latin motets by Anton Bruckner and others, church choir of the Minoritenkirche under the direction of Don Elias Stolz #800Years #Anniversary #Minoritenkirche
