In Fukushima Prefecture, hit by heavy snowfall, a series of accidents during snow removal have occurred, with one person killed and one unconscious and in critical condition. A little after 4 p.m. yesterday, a construction bulldozer working on snow removal on a city road in Matsuyama-cho, Kitakata City, Fukushima Prefecture, collided with a woman walking when it backed up. As a result of the accident, Etsuko Sakurai (71), who lives nearby, was taken to the hospital, but she suffered severe injuries all over her body and died about three hours after the accident. The road at the scene was narrow due to the snow accumulation, and it is believed that Sakurai was hit by a bulldozer backing up from behind. Also, a little after 9:30 a.m. in Atsushiokano-cho, Kitakata City, a 43-year-old woman working on snow removal was caught in snow that had fallen from a roof.
