LUMEN in Latin means light, the one that Davide Pirovano and Milena Simeoni saw one day in 1992 in front of a farmhouse in San Pietro in Cerro, in the province of Piacenza, in the Po Valley. There, without thinking too much, they decided to invest their skills, energy and savings. Their initial intention was not to create a community, but rather to change their lives, start a riding school and develop healthy lifestyles through natural medicine. With the first courses and the opening of the School of Naturopathy, however, some of the participants wondered if that large place, that context, that atmosphere and that group were not a perfect opportunity to start an intentional community. And so, in a short time, a first small community nucleus was created. The first years were full of excitement. There was a need to re-build and re-qualify the space, and many people came from all over Europe to give their contribution. In this way, in just under thirty years LUMEN has become the home of about sixty people.
