The Kurobe River is one of the seven great rivers of Toyama, originating from Mt. Washu in the Northern Alps and carving the Kurobe Gorge, a valley lined with steep mountains. In spring, cherry salmon return from the Sea of Japan to the downstream area, which forms a vast coastal alluvial fan. Kazuharu Asakawa is taking on the challenge of catching the precious silver scale, a fisherman that every angler wants to catch at least once. He is a fisherman with expertise in multiple genres who runs a curry restaurant in Shinbashi, Tokyo. He enjoys the premium privileges granted to only 80 people a season, and deciphers the ever-changing conditions of the river.
